ACHI President and CEO Dr. Joe Thompson was among several Arkansas health experts interviewed by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in its weekend coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The newspaper included comments from Dr. Thompson in a main story, a secondary story, and a video posted to its website and YouTube channel. The reporting focused on the fast-spreading Delta variant and concerns that it threatens to erase gains the state has made in fighting COVID-19.
“Our health care providers are exhausted right now,” Thompson told the newspaper. “They have been in this battle for a year and a half, and as they see the numbers of new cases go up, they are sounding a warning signal that the storm is coming, and we need to do all we can to avoid exposure, to gain protection and not to allow this virus to win the day.”
