The ACHI Health Policy Board released a statement Friday voicing alarm over the resurgence of COVID-19 in Arkansas and urging renewed vigilance against the virus. The board called on all eligible Arkansans to get vaccinated and recommended a redoubling of precautions including social distancing, frequent hand-washing, and mask-wearing in public ― even for those who have been vaccinated.

“Arkansas is currently experiencing an escalation of COVID-19 driven by the more infectious Delta variant. At the same time, Arkansas is one of the least protected states in the nation because of low vaccine uptake. Together, these two facts are cause for alarm, and the result is reflected in the current rise in cases seen across our communities,” the statement reads in part.
