Information on COVID-19 cases and testing rates in Arkansas school districts is available now on our COVID-19 in Arkansas page.
ACHI has partnered with the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Department of Health to make the data available to the public. The new information includes cumulative and active numbers of COVID-19 cases per school district, as well as rates of cases and testing per 10,000 people in each district.
We also have updated our data showing COVID-19 cases by community. The community-level and school-district level data are current as of Aug. 10. We plan to update weekly.
We also plan to develop graphics showing trends over time.
“We are pleased to put ACHI’s analytic capabilities to work in collaboration with the Education Department and the Health Department to expand the COVID-19 data ACHI has already been posting on our website, which has included cumulative and active case counts and rates by community,” said ACHI President and CEO Dr. Joe Thompson. “By adding school district-level data, we hope to aid the districts in navigating the way forward as schools reopen during this public health emergency.”
The case counts include both children and adults. Cases among incarcerated populations are not included. Counts are not given for districts with fewer than 10 cases, to minimize the risk of identifying individuals.
The rates are based on population estimates for school districts from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey for 2014‒2018. Locations of cases are based on reported addresses and the geographic boundaries of Arkansas school districts.
