ACHI Director of Health Policy Jennifer Wessel’s path to a career in public health is the focus of a profile by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The story details how Wessel’s interest in health and wellness, which began when she was a child gymnast, led her to become a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer, pursue a Master of Public Health degree at the UAMS College of Public Health, and eventually join the ACHI team.
Wessel, who also has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, discusses how a guest lecture by ACHI’s Craig Wilson at the College of Public Health helped her “connect all the pieces at the intersection of law, health care, and policy. I knew then that that was the direction I wanted to pursue.”
