The Arkansas Healthcare Transparency Initiative (HTI) was established in 2015 to provide a source of informative healthcare data to support consumers, researchers, and policymakers. The Arkansas All-Payer Claims Database (APCD) is one of the tools in the HTI used to accomplish these efforts. Since its inception through the Arkansas Healthcare Transparency Initiative Act, the APCD has developed into a robust data asset used to inform many aspects of the healthcare landscape in Arkansas. Pursuant to the Act, a report on HTI operations is submitted biennially to the Arkansas General Assembly. Highlights from the 2020–2021 report include:
- An update on data submission and efforts to collect claims activity from pharmacy benefit managers, third-party administrators, managed care organizations, and Provider-led Arkansas Shared Savings Entities.
- A summary of data requesters.
- Examples of projects that rely on HTI data.
- An overview of the national movement to support and leverage state APCDs.
