This fact sheet covers dental statistics for Americans and Arkansans in 2014. It covers consequences of going without dental care, typical barriers that prevent people from accessing dental care, and the benefits surrounding private dental insurance and Medicaid for children and adults.

Consequences of inadequate access to dental care include higher preventable health care utilization and cost, more absences from school and work, increased pain, increased risk for cardiovascular and respiratory disease.
