Medicare and Medicaid were established 60 years ago today (July 30). In a guest column published by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, ACHI Interim President and CEO Craig Wilson marks the anniversary by discussing how the recently enacted congressional budget bill will impact Medicare, a topic that has received less attention than the sweeping Medicaid changes contained in the legislation. Hospitals, physicians, and patients could all feel the effects of funding cuts unless Congress intervenes, Wilson writes.
