The average annual premiums for employer-sponsored health insurance in 2019 were lower in Arkansas than in any of the surrounding states, as highlighted in our new infographic.

The infographic, a new addition to our Data Watch series on health insurance premiums in Arkansas and the region, shows year-to-year changes in average annual employer health insurance premiums for an individual and a family in Arkansas and the surrounding states from 2015 through 2019.

Arkansas’s average annual premium has remained lower than the average premiums of all surrounding states each year except for 2018, when the average premium in Arkansas was the third lowest among surrounding states for a family and the second lowest for an individual.

In 2019, the average annual premium in Arkansas was $17,773 for a family and $6,054 for an individual.
